Anja Antonowicz

Anja Antonowicz (born Anna Antonowicz on December 22, 1981, in Włocławek, Poland) is a Polish actress who has built a notable career across both Polish and German television and film.

After graduating from the Łódź Film School, she landed her first major role as Ruda in the Polish series *Na dobre i na złe* from 2002 to 2004, followed by her portrayal of Miska in *Pensjonat Pod Różą*. During this period, she also performed on Warsaw theater stages.

German audiences came to know Antonowicz in 2005 as Nastya Niemeyer (née Pashenko) on the long-running series *Lindenstraße*. That same year, she appeared in the music video for Maria Sadowska’s song “Tomaszów.” Her performance as Maria, a rape victim in the *Bella Block* episode *Die Frau des Teppichlegers*, earned her a nomination for the German Television Award in 2006. She also played the au-pair Jolanta in Katinka Feistl’s comedy *Krieg der Frauen*.

Her German credits continued with roles in *Mr. Soft*, *Stille Wasser*, *Die Kinder der Flucht*, two episodes of *Ein starkes Team*, and the series *Dr. Psycho* as the forced prostitute Dana. She also appeared in the crime film *Das Geheimnis im Moor*.

Internationally, Antonowicz worked with director Peter Greenaway on *Nightwatching*, playing Catharina alongside Martin Freeman. She also starred as Elene in Nana Dschordschadse’s *The Rainbowmaker* and appeared in the Swedish crime production *GSI – Spezialeinheit Göteborg 5: Riskantes Spiel*. In 2013, she took on a role in the literary adaptation *Westen*.
