Joan Deschamps
Joan Deschamps spent her formative years on a working ranch in the rugged landscape of Western Montana, an upbringing that instilled in her a deep sense of grit and authenticity. She later earned her degree from Carleton College before relocating to Chicago, where she immersed herself in the study of the Meisner technique under the tutelage of Lois Hall. Her talent quickly caught the attention of the city's thriving theatre community, and she was invited to join the Huron Theatre ensemble—a pivotal moment during the explosive creative renaissance of 1980s Chicago. There, she shared the stage with luminaries like Laurie Metcalf, John Malkovich, Terry Kinney, and Gary Cole in both Steppenwolf and Huron Theatre productions.
After a three-decade pause to focus on raising her family, Joan reignited her acting career in 2022 with remarkable vigor. Since her return, she has landed roles in more than thirty projects, spanning indie shorts, feature films, and national commercials. Her work has graced prestigious festivals, including Austin Film Festival, Holly Shorts, Fantasia, Slamdance, Cucalorus, and Seattle International Film Festival.
Currently, Joan hones her craft at the Carol Hickey Acting Studio and is proudly represented by Collier Talent Agency. When she’s not on set, she tends to her beehives and spends time with Ed, a magnificent rescued standard poodle—a living testament to her belief in the mantra: adopt, don’t shop.
