J.Stephen Brantley

J. Stephen Brantley is a versatile actor and playwright with an extensive career across stage and screen. Off-Broadway, he has delivered compelling performances in *Murder in the First* at 59E59, *Mope* at Ensemble Studio Theatre, and *Pirira* at Theatre 167. His stage work has also graced productions with Big Dance, CapsLock, Cucaracha, Hard Sparks, Horse Trade, Jewish Plays Project, and Neo-Political Cowgirls, appearing at venues like HERE, La MaMa, P.S.122, and Soho Rep.

Regionally, Brantley has taken on roles in *Of Mice and Men* at Bay Street and North Coast Rep, *The Night Alive* at Guild Hall, *Slap & Tickle* at Provincetown Theater, and *Romeo and Juliet*—along with its zombie follow-up *R & J & Z*—at Stonington Opera House. On screen, he has appeared in NBC’s *The Blacklist*, Adult Swim’s *Neon Joe, Werewolf Hunter*, Hulu’s *Difficult People*, and Eliza Hittman’s indie film *Beach Rats*.

Beyond acting, Brantley is an accomplished playwright. His works have been staged across the U.S., Canada, and Ireland. As a member of Theatre 167, he co-wrote and performed in *Jackson Heights 3am* and *I Like To Be Here: Jackson Heights Revisited, Or, This Is A Mango*.

A graduate of NYU’s Experimental Theatre Wing, Brantley has earned eight NYIT nominations and is a member of the Indie Theatre Hall of Fame. In 2013, he received the Micheál MacLiammóir Award for Best Actor at the International Dublin Gay Theatre Festival. He is a proud member of AEA and SAG-AFTRA.
