On a houseboat, twelve-year-old Sarah lives with her parents as they study whale sharks. Her closest companion is Jack, a whale shark she saved as a pup. After a devastating accident, Sarah and her mother relocate to the coastal town of Exmouth. Desperate to reclaim her former life, Sarah pins her hopes on Jack's migration route—believing his return will convince her mother to take her back out on the water. When Jack doesn't appear, Sarah undertakes a dangerous journey to find him.
