S01E07 Responsible Government

After the failed Rebellions of 1837 are suppressed, Queen Victoria resolves to extend responsible government to Canada. Recognizing that colonial unrest stems from a lack of local authority, she moves to grant the provinces greater self-governance, allowing elected officials to hold real power over domestic affairs. The decision marks a pivotal shift in imperial policy, aiming to stabilize the colonies through political concession rather than force alone.
