After Carlos goes missing for two days, David returns to Mexico to search for him and assist locals battling a deadly strain of drug-resistant tuberculosis that is ravaging the population. Meanwhile, Mayko and Rachel are tirelessly working to develop a cure for the TB outbreak, while also investigating why the residents of Hudson Point, Illinois, are experiencing a lack of pain sensitivity. Their efforts intertwine as they seek solutions to these pressing health crises.
